Meet Gianni Hermida, Senior Product Specialist on our CX team

Today we’re highlighting: Gianni Hermida!

What initially drew you to Audicus?

Throughout her professional journey, Gianni has always had a passion for cultivating connections and working with others. She worked at a hair salon in New York where she strengthened her interpersonal relation skills, and after some time, she felt she was ready for her next challenge where she could be part of something even more meaningful. She knew the start-up space was where she wanted to land next. There was no doubt in her mind Customer Experience was an avenue she wanted to work towards, and was quite keen on Audicus once she read about the mission and what the company does for folks within the hearing space. Gianni applied not once, but twice to the company, and recalls “once I had my first interview and learned a bit more about the company, what they are doing, and the goal, what really rang to me was helping people. I’m a people person and enjoy helping people to the best of my ability. I like making sure everyone is happy and feeling good about themselves.”  

What is your role at Audicus and when did you join the team? 

Gianni joined Audicus in 2019 as a Senior Product Specialist working on the Customer Experience team. She is a hearing aid guru and helps folks on their journey with hearing aids, from unboxing the product to setting them up and guiding them along the trial. Gianni sees customer interactions as deeply meaningful and understands the importance of the product and how we are truly shaping lives within this space. While she spends the majority of her day with customers, she is also highly collaborative with her team and acts as a “secondary point of guidance” if a colleague has a question or needs clarification on an issue.   

What’s one of your favorite memories at Audicus?

Audicus’ foundation is built on warm, inclusive, and accepting employees, which results in positive company culture. Gianni recalls some of her favorite memories with the company were the wonderful in-person happy hours on Friday nights and notes  that “the team has always been great.” Being highly customer-focused is engrained in Gianni, and makes her so proud to be part of helping people gain back such an essential sense: hearing.  A heart-warming customer memory Gianni recalls is assisting someone with setting up their hearing aids, and the customer commenting they could finally hear the sound of birds chirping again. Gianni remembers “being on a phone call with a customer who had their hearing aids for only one week, and they were so happy to have had a great conversation with their 8-year-old grandchild and could hear them so clearly.” Gianni truly believes that positive and meaningful conversations such as these “makes it all worth it.”   

How would you best describe the culture at Audicus?

Gianni firmly believes “Audicus is a very open space” where individuals can bring up any topic on their mind, and it will be received with respect, and organic connection amongst folks all throughout the organization. She comments “you’ll never be turned down for what you think might be a bad idea or opinion.” In addition to inclusivity, the company encourages team members to grow and broaden their skills based upon their interests and professional development desires, something Gianni is happy to see carried throughout the company.   

Why do you think candidates should join the Audicus team?

Working in a start-up environment allows one to set the groundwork and truly see how much of a large impact their work will have on the company. The start-up space also allows individuals to further sharpen and grow their skills,  and Gianni mentioned if anyone is looking for a “positive work environment, Audicus is the place to be. We’re not huge, but we’re not small.”   

Why do you think a customer should choose us?

Audicus’ customer service is one-of-a-kind. The team aims to provide personable, warm, and individualized customer service that folks may not receive from local, or large, businesses. Gianni and her team “will call the customer - you’re not reaching out to us most of the time, as we are mainly contacting you to make certain your hearing aids are working well” and to troubleshoot any issue the customer may have.  

Outside of work, what are your favorite things to do?

When Gianni’s not working, she enjoys staying active by frequenting the gym and loves spending time outdoors, especially walking throughout Central Park.  Lola, Gianni’s extremely cute boxer, keeps her company during the day, and this social butterfly has been making quite a few fur friends at the dog park.
