Meet Jake Leary, Advocacy Team Lead

What is your role at Audicus, and how'd your career path bring you here?
Jake Leary attended the University of Connecticut and graduated with a degree in Political Science. He’s now the Advocacy Team Lead on the CX team. He kicked off his career in Sales, first working for the Mets, and then later jumping into a startup.
After that, he took a turn and spent some time teaching 5th grade History and 6th grade Math. Eventually, he wanted a more meaningful role, and came across Audicus. He began as a Customer Experience agent, and worked his way up into a management role.
What do you do in your role?
Jake manages a team of three Customer Experience agents working with existing customers to ensure they have a seamless use of their hearing aids. He works closely with our customers as well, taking customer calls and providing solutions.
He wanted to pivot to a career in CX as he enjoys helping others. He says he has the "ability to provide people with a solution to issues that they have, and make their life better.”
Any advice for someone wanting to pursue a career in CX?
For anyone wanting to pursue a career in CX, Jake says to “absolutely do it - it allows you to provide people with something that’s life changing. This job we’re doing means something to a lot of people, and gives purpose.”
He urges folks to pick a company and/or product that’s meaningful, something that you can support and get behind and believe in. He believes “if you can be passionate about the product and talk with purpose about what it is you’re doing, then it’s the easiest thing.”
What do you enjoy most at Audicus?
Jake has been with Audicus since August 2021, and during this time he says he says he enjoys the work he does, the people he works with, and the people he works for. He also says he loves the flexibility of the company as well.
Outside of work, what are your favorite things to do?
Jake has a real passion for sports and running. His favorite teams are the Yankees, Buffalo Bills, and the UConn Huskies. When it comes to music, Jake’s all about that pop-punk, early 2000’s life. Being outside is his happy place, and he’s into cooking and grilling, with a special knack for making pizza thanks to his pizza oven.
He recently took a trip to Washington, and then headed to London to catch a baseball game (the Mets and Phillies) with friends. Back home, he enjoys hanging out with his friends and wife, and their little goldendoodle Ollie.
Fun fact about you?
“I plan on running a half marathon in every state.”
